Driving Directions

From Albany Airport via 87 South (Northway)
(approximately 15 minutes) (One way taxi fare - approximately $11)

• When exiting the airport at the light, take a left and follow signs for Route 155 and I-87 (about a mile east of the airport). Click here for a map of the roads in the vicinity of the airport.
• Just past The Desmond Hotel, turn right onto I-87 South.
• Follow I-87 for a few miles until you see an exit for I-90 East (Boston). Take this exit.
• Once you are on I-90 East – take the first exit – Exit 2 (SUNY Albany). Stay in far-right lane and take a right at the light at the end of the ramp. This will put you on Washington Avenue Extension.
• Stay on Washington Ave Ext. for three lights until you reach Rapp Road. (You will see a Polish American Community Center on your right and Daughters of Sarah on your left). Take a left at this light.
• Follow this road (Columbia Circle) around the bend.
• Once the road straightens out, NYSERDA is the first driveway on the right.

From the New York State Thruway
(from toll booth approximately 7 minutes)

• Get off the Thruway at Exit 24. Stay right.
• After the toll booth, take the exit for I-90 East (Boston).
• Once you are on I-90 East – take the first exit – Exit 2 (SUNY Albany). Stay in far-right lane and take a right at the light at the end of the ramp. This will put you on Washington Avenue Extension.
• Stay on Washington Ave Ext. for three lights until you reach Rapp Road. (You will see a Polish American Community Center on your right and Daughters of Sarah on your left). Take a left at this light.
• Follow this road (Columbia Circle) around the bend.
• Once the road straightens out, NYSERDA is the first driveway on the right.

From the Albany/Rensselaer Amtrak Station
via I-90 West (approximately 20 minutes) (One-way taxi fare - approximately $15)

• Turn left onto East Street when you pull out of the train station parking lot.
• At second light, turn left onto Partition Street, and at the end of Partition Street (one block), turn left onto Broadway.
• At the third light, turn right onto the ramp leading to the bridge across the river to Albany, Routes 9 North and 20 West.
• On other side of the bridge, turn right onto 787 North, toward Troy. Stay toward the right and in one mile get off onto I-90 West, toward Buffalo.
• Get off I-90 at Exit 2, Fuller Road - State University. Turn left at light at end of exit ramp onto Fuller Road.
• At first light, turn right onto Washington Avenue Ext. West.
• Turn left at second traffic light, then proceed straight ahead across an access road, then bend to the right). After road straightens, NYSERDA's building is first driveway on the right. Visitor parking is in front.

• The Adirondack Northway ("the Northway") is the portion of I-87 between Albany and the Canadian border. To reach NYSERDA from the Northway, head south past Northway Exit 2 (the exit for Route 5, Central Avenue) until you see an exit for I-90 East (Boston). Take this exit.
• Once you are on I-90 East – take the first exit – Exit 2 (SUNY Albany). Stay in far-right lane and take a right at the light at the end of the ramp. This will put you on Washington Avenue Extension.
