Malcolm Pirnie projects with NYSERDA funding Receive two American Council of Engineering New York Diamond Awards
The American Council of Engineering Companies New York Chapter (ACEC/NY) recently honored Malcolm Pirnie with two Diamond awards: in the Special awards and Water & Wastewater categories. The diamond award is the highest in each category of engineering with only 23 diamond awards presented in 2005.
Malcolm Pirnie has served as a FlexTech contractor since its inception in 1992. They have also provided NYSERDA with technical services and have served as a contractor on a number of energy efficiency demonstration projects.
The Special Awards Diamond Award was presented to Malcolm Pirnie for the project titled, "Optimizing the Energy Efficiency of UV Disinfection Through On-site Validation and Control Equipment Maintenance." Funded by NYSERDA, the goal of the project is to optimize the efficiency of the city of Albany's UV drinking water facility and to develop an operating and maintenance strategy that maintains a high level of performance.
The Water and Wastewater Diamond Award was presented to Malcolm Pirnie for a NYSERDA funded project with the Gloversville-Johnstown Wastewater Treatment Facility in Fulton County. Designed to optimize the biogas production, the recommended upgrades increased the efficiency significantly.
The 2006 Diamond Awards were presented to Malcolm Pirnie during ACEC/NY's Engineering Excellence Awards Gala at the Waldorf Astoria on April 1. Both projects are automatically entered into the competition for the National ACEC awards. For more information about ACEC/NY visit www.acecny.org.
"Malcolm Pirnie is a significant partner in the progression towards cleaner water," said NYSERDA President Peter R. Smith.
