NYSERDA Provides Financial Incentives to Kodak For Energy Efficiency Project

Rochester, NY -Eastman Kodak Company, in partnership with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), recently concluded an energy efficiency upgrade program at several of its Rochester-based facilities that will yield the worldwide provider of photographic, health care and graphic communications products and services an estimated annual savings of more than $300,000 on their energy bill.

NYSERDA is providing over $650,000 in incentives to assist Kodak's implementation of energy-efficient improvements to its main office building at 343 State Street and at four manufacturing facilities. Wendel Energy Services of Buffalo, New York, provided energy efficiency and design services to support Kodak's projects.

"Our project with Kodak and Wendel Energy represents another 'win-win' partnership.  By taking advantage of incentives offered by NYSERDA, Kodak was able to identify areas in its physical plant and operations where energy efficiencies and savings could be realized," said NYSERDA President and CEO Peter R. Smith.

Smith said that the financial incentives provided by NYSERDA for these projects came through the Commercial/Industrial Performance Program (CIPP). Under the program, financial incentives provided by NYSERDA help to lower the overall project cost and help to promote the development of the energy service company sector of the State's economy.

"Through the CIPP program, we have been able to implement energy savings projects that are yielding sizable energy savings as well as helping to protect the environment," said James Breeze, Energy Project Manager for Kodak.

Kodak utilized Wendel Energy to complete building system analyses and produce an energy conservation audit that encompassed five buildings. The energy-efficiency measures recommended by Wendel Energy included equipment controls, variable speed drives and high-efficiency motors installed on water supply pumps and fans.

Funding for the Energy $martSM program , which NYSERDA administers on behalf of the Public Service Commission, comes from a charge on utility bills. The program has proven successful in lowering electricity costs for ratepayers by encouraging energy efficiency in all sectors of New York's energy economy. The programs are available to all electric distribution customers of Central Hudson, Con Edison, NYSEG, National Grid, Orange and Rockland, and Rochester Gas and Electric.

NYSERDA, a public benefit corporation established by law in 1975, administers SBC funds and programs under an agreement with the Public Service Commission.
