Sitzman's Maytag Opens Energy-Efficient Full Service Laundry Facility State Helps Fund Energy-Efficient Washing Machines and Lighting

Alden, NY - Sitzman's Maytag will receive more than $2500 in financial incentives from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) for the installation of energy-efficient lighting and front-load washing machines at its newly constructed sales and laundromat complex on Broadway.

"When designing their new facility and choosing new washing machines, Sitzman's made very wise choices on energy-efficient lighting and high efficiency front load washing machines that will help save them energy and water," said NYSERDA President Peter R. Smith . "By taking advantage of our New York Energy $martSM Energy Smart Equipment Choices Program, Sitzman's received financial incentives to help with the cost of the energy-saving equipment."

"Applying for the NYSERDA incentives could not have been easier.  The application was straightforward and we are delighted to be receiving the incentive for our decision to be more energy efficient," said Sitzman's Operations Officer Keith Sitzman

Sitzman's Maytag received a total NYSERDA incentive of $2,525.  The incentive included $1500 for 10 Maytag Neptune Front Load High Efficiency Coin Operated wash machines and $1,025 for five Energy Star exit signs, eight two-lamp T-8 fixtures, 35 four-lamp T-8 fixtures, 10 100-watt Pulse Start Metal Halide HID Fixtures and three 400-watt Pulse Start Metal Halide HID fixtures.

It is estimated that Sitzman's will save approximately $1,848 in electric energy costs and more than 195,300 gallons of water annually by using the energy-efficient products.

The Smart Equipment Choices program provides financial incentives up to $10,000 per program cycle to commercial, industrial, institutional, agricultural, governmental, and multifamily (five or more units) for the installation of pre-qualified energy-efficient electric products.

NYSERDA has available up to $1 million for electric efficiency products. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through September 30, 2006, or until the funds are committed, whichever occurs first.

Funding for the Smart Equipment Choices Program and other NYSERDA incentives are provided through the New York Energy $martSM program, which lowers electricity costs by encouraging energy efficiency as the State=s electric utilities move to competition. The programs are available to all electric distribution customers (residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial) of Central

Hudson, Con Edison, NYSEG, Niagara Mohawk, Orange and Rockland, and Rochester Gas and Electric.

New York Energy $martSM programs are funded by a System Benefits Charge (SBC) paid by electric distribution customers of participating utilities. NYSERDA, a public benefit corporation established by law in 1975, administers SBC funds and programs under an agreement with the Public Service Commission.

Additional information about these and other energy-saving programs is available online at www.nyserda.org or www.getenergysmart.org, or toll-free at (866) NYSERDA.
