Sigurdson Named NYSERDA Western NY Project Manager
Buffalo, May 20 -- The New York State Energy Research and Development
Authority (NYSERDA) today named Peter Sigurdson, 41 of Alden, Project
Manager of its newly opened Western New York Regional Office. He
will manage government relations and communications related to economic
development and energy conservation across 14 western New York counties,
including the Finger Lakes, Greater Rochester and Niagara Frontier
counties.
Included in his responsibilities will be integrating NYSERDA's
program benefits into those offered by the USA Niagara Development
Corporation, an effort spearheaded by Governor George Pataki's interest
in developing the Niagara Falls region.
"NYSERDA welcomes Mr. Sigurdson to our Western New York team.
He brings nearly two decades of State and local legislative experience
to NYSERDA, and offers businesses and residents of the region his
expertise in good constituent service," NYSERDA President,
William M. Flynn said.
Since 1996, Sigurdson has served as Chief-of-Staff to the Erie
County Legislature, and prior to that, 13 years on the staff of
the New York State Senate. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism
from Buffalo State College.
"I am looking forward to matching NYSERDA's innovative and
cost-saving programs to the wide range of industrial, commercial
and rural communities this Western New York office serves. Also,
schools, local governments, and homeowners are all eligible for
NYSERDA's cutting-edge energy solutions. These efforts reduce costs
and strengthen our regional economy," Sigurdson said.
Across the far western region, (Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus,
Allegany, Wyoming, Genesee and Orleans counties), since 1998, NYSERDA
has sponsored 630 projects, with a combined funding value of $111
million. Among the well-known companies participating are Tops Markets,
Moog, Motorola, Quebecor Printing, Buffalo China, CALSPAN, and Clean
Air Technologies. Funding has also improved the energy efficiency
of more than 20 local schools and colleges, along with 11 health-care
related facilities. Several projects involve Erie County government
and municipalities, including the Town of Amherst.
