NYSERDA Director Receives National Recognition
Gunnar Walmet, Program Director of the Industry and Buildings Research
and Development (R&D) Program at the New York State Energy Research
and Development Authority (NYSERDA), has received the "Champions
of Energy Efficiency in Industry" award from the American Council
for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE).
The award is presented to outstanding industrial sector leaders,
and recognizes leadership and accomplishments in the energy efficiency
arena. Walmet, one of four individuals to receive recognition by ACEEE,
has been a program director in NYSERDA's R&D program for 14 years.
The winners received the award based on demonstrated excellence in
program implementation, research and development, energy policy, private
sector initiatives, and international initiatives.
Walmet has been credited with developing one of the nation's most
important state-based industrial energy efficiency R&D programs.
He is also a noted national leader in the promotion of energy efficiency
in the industrial sector.
The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy is an independent
nonprofit organization founded in 1980. It is dedicated to advancing
energy efficiency as a means of promoting economic prosperity and
