Alternate Fuel Vehicle Fleet Demonstration Program
Improving the quality of the air all New Yorkers breathe is the main
thrust of NYSERDA's alternative-fuel vehicle (AFV) work, as well as
reducing our dependence on imported petroleum and fostering economic
development. Working with municipalities, other State and federal
government agencies, and private companies, NYSERDA has put nearly
300 AFVs into service in fleets from Erie County to Long Island. Fueled
by natural gas, methanol, electricity, propane, and ethanol, these
vehicles are serving as a rolling laboratory. Final results have been
provided to New York policy and decision makers in the Alternative
